Learn how to write your first screenplay using Jujukraft’s intuitive interface.
Understanding Screenplay Format
Section titled “Understanding Screenplay Format”A screenplay follows industry-standard formatting:
- Scene Headings - Location and time (e.g., “INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY”)
- Action - Description of what happens
- Character Names - Who is speaking
- Dialogue - What characters say
- Parentheticals - How characters say it
Step 1: Start Writing
Section titled “Step 1: Start Writing”- Open your project in Jujukraft
- Click the Script tab
- Begin typing your scene
The editor automatically detects screenplay elements as you type.
Step 2: Scene Structure
Section titled “Step 2: Scene Structure”Every scene needs:
INT. LOCATION - TIME
Action description here. Show what's happening.
CHARACTER NAME(direction)Dialogue goes here.
ANOTHER CHARACTERMore dialogue here.Step 3: Use Auto-Formatting
Section titled “Step 3: Use Auto-Formatting”Jujukraft automatically formats:
- Scene headings when you type “INT.” or “EXT.”
- Character names in ALL CAPS
- Dialogue indentation
- Action descriptions
Step 4: Element Detection
Section titled “Step 4: Element Detection”The editor recognizes:
- Scenes - Location and time indicators
- Characters - Names in dialogue
- Transitions - Scene changes
- Parentheticals - Character directions
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Section titled “Common Mistakes to Avoid”- Don’t use camera directions
- Avoid excessive parentheticals
- Keep action descriptions concise
- Use present tense only
